Mary Smart Biography
I came to Hawaii on a Navy assignment to Camp Smith, HI in 1982 and settled in Mililani before Koa Ridge, Waipio Gentry, Waikele, and Royal Kunia were developed. Segments of those communities as well as Crestview and Mililani Town are part of Senate District 18 which I am hoping to represent in the Senate. I retired from the Navy as a Captain after having significant military assignments in Washington DC & the Pentagon, Mons Belgium, Monterey CA, Annapolis MD, Cheltenham MD, and four tours on Oahu. I have not forgotten the oath to our Constitution and will work to uphold all our rights if elected to the Hawaii Senate. I am a problem solver and have a heart for helping people. I served my country, cared for elderly parents in my home, actively volunteer in church ministries and Mililani community boards. I am currently Vice-President and Office Manager for a non-profit that helps women in crisis. Submitting testimony for and against bills in the legislature and City Council has not achieved desired results. For too long our elected officials have ignored the voice of the people. As the saying goes: If you can’t beat them, join them! I want to be the conservative voice for our residents who have been ignored by those who are supposed to serve us. I am asking for your vote in the August 13, 2022 Primary and the November 8, 2022 General Election.
